Cyclamen and cyclamen – growth and placement
Cyclamen and cyclamen thrive best in cool temperatures and a bright location without direct, harsh sun. Too much heat can shorten the flowering period, while a steady, cool climate supports both bud formation and flower durability. The plant prefers well-drained soil where excess water can easily drain.
Watering should be done with care, as cyclamen does not tolerate standing water around the tuber. It is recommended to water from below or along the edge of the pot, so that the center of the plant is kept dry. A stable watering routine contributes to a healthy plant with many flowers
Flowering and dormancy period of cyclamen
After flowering, cyclamen often enter a natural dormancy period where leaf growth slows down. During this phase, watering is significantly reduced while the plant rests. When new leaves begin to appear, watering is gradually resumed and the plant will once again develop flowers under the right conditions.
