Moschata roses in Denmark
They are all healthy and very hardy. Lens roses in Belgium has worked the most with Moschata roses and when we opened Laubjergs Rose Garden they were relatively unknown in Denmark. Today the Rose Garden is over 25 years old and you can find Moschata roses everywhere, they are used for many different purposes. An example is Waterloo, which is incredibly beautiful as a hedge, or a single one in a large pot, where here at our place it has been standing outside in the garden in pots even in winter.
The story behind Moschata roses
The history of Moschata roses goes back several centuries and is linked to the so-called musk roses. The group has its roots in old rose species, where fragrant flowers and natural growth form were the focus. In the 20th century, the Moschata types were further developed, especially through breeders such as Pemberton and Lens, who created varieties with larger blooms, improved health and a particularly characteristic charm.
Good properties of moschata roses
Moschata roses are distinguished from many other rose groups by their light and open inflorescences, which are often in large clusters. They usually bloom profusely and continuously throughout the summer, and most varieties are known for their high degree of health.
Grows as a bush, some grow 1-1.5m tall with a dome shape while others can easily grow 2-2.5m tall with a bushy shape. You can advantageously plant several in a group with a distance of 1m and create a large rose bush.
