What characterizes historic roses?
Historic roses must be older than 1867 and differ from modern roses in their growth form, flowering and expression. Many varieties bloom once during the summer, but in return with a profusion of flowers. The bushes often have a more open and natural shape with soft branches and rich foliage.
Some of the historical roses have good stories attached to them, others are old roses that we still think are beautiful and add value to the garden.

The flowering of historic roses is often concentrated over a shorter period, but it is intense and very decorative. Many varieties also form beautiful rose hips after flowering, which adds structure and interest to the garden well into autumn.
