Gooseberries – a versatile and robust fruit bush
Gooseberries are popular in Danish gardens because of their ease of cultivation, good yields and versatile uses. The berries can be eaten fresh, made into jam, juice or baked goods, and the gooseberry bush also provides structure and green elements in the garden.
A gooseberry bush is suitable for sunny and semi-shady locations and adapts to most garden soils, as long as they are well-drained.
How to care for your gooseberry bush
A gooseberry bush is very frugal and doesn't require much, but it still needs fertilizer like all other plants.
To keep the plant young, you can cut old, rough branches off the plant to make room for new branches.
