Botanical background and growth form
Wisteria, originally from East Asia and North America, is known for its long, and sometimes fragrant, flower clusters in shades of purple, blue, and white that appear in spring and early summer.
Wisteria is a vigorous vine with twining stems that naturally climbs structures by spiraling around supports. The plants can grow up to several meters tall and wide if given space and proper support.
Growing and caring for Wisteria
For optimal growth and flowering, wisteria should be placed in sunny conditions with well-drained soil. The tree requires support, such as pergolas or trellises, on which the vines can climb and shape themselves. With proper pruning, a dense bloom is ensured year after year.
