Ground cover plants – function and use
Groundcover plants are characterized by their ability to spread quickly and cover the soil surface. They reduce evaporation from the soil and limit the growth of unwanted weeds. At the same time, they create a more stable microclimate in the beds and protect the soil from erosion.
Ground cover plants come in different types, each with its own good properties; you can get some that can be used in both sun and shade.
Care and establishment
When planting ground covers, proper spacing is important to achieve uniform coverage over time. The plants typically require limited care once established, but watering and maintenance are important during the establishment phase for good results.
Light pruning can be used to control growth and ensure a dense and well-groomed appearance.
