Seed potatoes – health and yield start here

Seed potatoes are specially selected potatoes that are certified to produce strong plants with minimal risk of disease. They ensure uniform germination and a high yield.

Choose the variety according to the desired harvest time: early varieties provide fresh potatoes in early summer, while late varieties can be stored longer and produce larger tubers.

How to plant potatoes

The condition of the soil is crucial for success with potatoes. Plant seed potatoes in loose, nutrient-rich, well-drained soil, preferably in a sunny location. Space the tubers 25–30 cm apart in the row and 60–75 cm between rows. Cover lightly with soil and ensure even moisture during germination. As the plants grow, mound soil around them to encourage tuber formation and prevent them from turning green.

Tips for care and harvesting

Potatoes thrive best with regular watering, especially during dry periods, and with moderate fertilization to ensure strong plants.

Harvest early varieties when you can't wait any longer. Typically when there are 5-10 potatoes under the plant. They are the first ones that are the best.

Late varieties, when the leaves wilt. Store potatoes cool, dark and frost-free to preserve quality.
