A little about silk peonies
Silk peonies bloom in June-July. The vast majority of silk peonies have multiple flowers on each stem, so the flowering lasts longer.
Silk peonies are available in red, reddish purple, cerise, pink, salmon pink, rose, cream and white.
When the silk peonies have finished flowering, the seed pods are cut off so that they do not make the stems too heavy. Perfect partners for silk peonies are, for example, large, vigorous phlox or Indian mint, which bloom a little later.
How to plant a silk peony
Silk peonies are a tuber and an easy plant, which should ideally be a few centimetres below the ground. When you buy one of our potted silk peonies, plant it in the garden as it is in the pot, but always check where the top of the tuber is to be safe, 2-3cm below the ground level is perfect.
Silk peonies love alkaline soil with a slightly high pH. On poor soil, you need to lime the soil a little extra. For example, you give the peonies lime when the lawn gets lime anyway.
