Scilla siberica
Scilla siberica is botanically called Russian Squill and is one of the most common types. The characteristic is the flowers which are deep blue in color and often with several flowers on each stem.
Russian squill blooms early in spring and thrives in both sun and light shade. They can be placed under deciduous plants as they emerge and bloom before most others have leafed out.
Spanish skill
Spanish hyacinth or Hyacinthoides hispanica is another genus. As the name suggests, it comes from Spain and blooms in May. Spanish hyacinth is a fantastic cut flower. Here you can also buy it in pure colors pink, blue and white.
Hyacinthoides non-scripta also originates from Spain + England where it grows wild in forests. It is called Bluebell and is incredibly beautiful in the flower meadow, it has a darker blue color and decorative curved flower stalks where the flowers hang like bells, hence the name Bluebell.
