- The star box is placed at least 2 meters up - north/northwest or north/northeast.
- Preferably several starling boxes next to each other. as the starling is a very social bird and prefers to live in colonies - as do several sparrow species. The starling cleans its own nest box. If there is still old nesting material in the nest box, it is cleaned so that it is ready for spring.
