Climbing roses growth and flowering

There is a slight difference in the growth of the different climbing roses so the exact size depends on several things. They can all grow to 2m, but if they are to grow to 3-4m then it requires support, a good warm location and the right variety.

Pruning climbing roses

All climbing roses that remont are pruned at the end of winter. The roses are pruned back a little each year, preferably in layers, so that new growth appears on a large part of the climbing rose, and not just at the top.

To rejuvenate a climbing rose, it can be beneficial to cut back 1-2 branches hard in the spring. This will provoke the rose to produce new shoots from the base of the climbing rose.
